DESCRIPTION

NAME OF MEDICINE  :-  PUNARNAVADYARISHTA

 CLASSICAL REFRENCE  :- Bhaishajyaratnavali-Shotharogadhikara.

FORMULATION COMPOSITION  :-

Each 15 ml. contains:

Shavet punarnava (Boerrhavia diffusa white), Rakta punarnava (Boerrhavia diffusa red), Bala (Sida cordifolia), Atibala (Abutilon indicum), Patha (Cissampelos pareira), Vasa (Adhatoda vasica), Giloye (Tinospora cordifolia), Chitrak (Plumbago zeylanicum), Kantakari (Solanum indicum)-1 part (each of the above ingredients), Water for decoction-Q.S. (as per text reference), Water reduced to-Q.S.(as per text reference), Guda (Jaggery)-100 parts, Sharkara (Sugar)-50 parts, Nagkeshar (Mesua ferrea), Dalchini (Cinnamum zeylanicum), Sukshmaila (Elettaria cardamum), Tej patra (Cinnamum inners), Netrabala (Valariana indica)-0.25 parts (each of the above ingredients), Draksha (Vitis vinifera)-20 parts, Dhatki (Woodfordia fruticosa)-8 parts.

Prepared and retained as per Asava-Arishta nirmana vidhi.

METHOD OF PREPARATION  :-

  1. Calculate the quantity of the drugs mentioned under PUNARNAVADYARISHTA in AFI-I (1:23) and as per master formulary record of the pharmacy for the required batch and quantity.
  2. Accurately weigh the tested drugs from the raw material store, clean them and then pass through 20 and 30 mesh to discard foreign materials. Now again weigh the drugs and adjust their weight loss according to master formula.
  3. Clean the Pulveriser as per SCP (Standard Cleaning Procedure).
  4. Coarsely powder the drugs as mentioned in the Yog.
  5. Clean the wooden fermentor with hot and cold water repeatedly 5 to 6 times with nylon brush and proceed as per SCP & tag it with its status.
  6. The required quantity of water to which sugar/jaggery as prescribed in the formula is added, boiled and cooled.
  7. The above mentioned water is then filtered and poured into the fermentation pot.
  8. Fine powder of the drugs already prepared by coarsely grinding as  mentioned in the formula are added in the formula.
  9. The container is then covered with a lid tightly.
  10. Maintain the room temperature from 25°C to 40°C for few days (minimum 40 days or till the fermentation process is completed).
  11. Take a sample for testing and after testing the batch for filling ,filter the clear upper portion of the liquid and reject the lower 10 liter of the liquid.
  12. Seal and label  the liquid in well cleaned bottles as per GMP mentioned in D & C Act 1940 and the rules made there under.

DOSE  :-  

15 to 30 ml.  or as directed by the physician.

THERAPEUTIC USE  :-

Acts as diuretic & thus useful in Oedema of various aetiology, renal diseases, hepatic & urinary disorders, removes toxins from the blood by urination..

ANUPAN  :-  

To be taken with equal quantity of water half an hour after meals twice daily or as directed by the physician.
